The HEART/NSTA Trust remains committed to the mandate of the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for TVET in providing access to training for all, and in the delivery of high quality, relevant and effective programmes. We continue to mobilize TVET training communities in developing policies and practices for improved skills training, thereby contributing to increased opportunities for employment. Emphasis has also been placed on education for sustainable development and the transition to sustainable livelihood for all.
On the 15th of July, the HEART/NSTA Trust’s UNEVOC Centre in collaboration with WorldSkills Jamaica will join the global celebrations to mark World Youth Skills Day (WYSD). “This day aims to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship” (United Nations, 2021).
The impact of COVID-19 has affected youths, in-person skills and many TVET processes worldwide. This year’s theme “Reimagining Youth Skills Post Pandemic” places emphasis on the need for continuous growth and development of TVET to foster sustainable development. It also encourages innovation, creativity, problem solving, analytical and critical thinking and a resilient labour force equipped with the ability to adapt to unforeseen changes. As a UNEVOC Centre, the HEART/NSTA Trust will participate in these celebrations, with the aim of continuing the great efforts and support for TVET’s lifelong development.
